Purviews are categories of divine areas of expertise. Every god has multiple purviews (at least four), and every Demigod has access to at least two of them.  From these Purviews, you may select Boons.  Boons tend to be a special power that only one with that Purview can use.

At character creation, a claimed Demigod will be asked to select purviews from their god’s realms of expertise. What Purviews you can choose are wholly dependent on which gods you serve, and a mixture of those two will determine what House you will belong in upon the isle.

When you select a Purview, you automatically get the innate power included in it, even if you do not select any other boons.

Purviews Allowances are thus:

Claimed / New Arrival:  2 Purviews, 3 Boons total, chosen between the two.

Veteran: 3 Purviews, 5 Boons total, chosen between the three.

House Leader: 4 Purviews, 7 Boons total, chosen between the four.

Example:

if you are a child of Frigg, you will look and see that her Purviews are:  Animal (Falcon), Earth, Order and Fate.

If you are a standard Claimed/New Arrival character, you can take 2 purviews.  You decide you would like Animal (falcon) and Order.

Automatically, you get the innate power in both purviews, regardless of if you actually take any boons in it.

Now, you decide that you would like to take two Boons from the Animal Purview.

Frigg’s Animal is Falcons, so anything regarding a specific animal will be a Falcon.

You get the innate power first (this is listed at the top of the Animal Purview page)

You select:
Animal Command

Animal Form

Now you have one Boon left that you can put in Order.

You get the innate power automatically. (listed at the top of the Order Purview page)

You then select:

The Talking Stick.

Now you have two Purviews and Three boons (plus the two innate powers) and can move on to the rest of your sheet.

NOTES:

Your divine parent will be the driving force for what house you will generally be put in, BUT each house requires you have at least one of their specific purviews.

So if your god is for Hearthstone (as in the example above) but you do not have one of the required Purviews for that House  (Artistry (material), Nature, Order, Guardian) you will choose a House that fits your character concept AND you have a Purview in.

IF YOU TAKE THE FATE PURVIEW YOU MUST BE IN HOUSE ENIGMA, NO EXCEPTIONS

For the Animal Purview, you must select ONE of the animals listed under your god.

For the Artistry purview, you must select an artform under your god’s purview, some have specifics, but most will either say “Performance” or “Material.” “Performance” means things like dancing, singing, playing a violin etc. “Material” are different sorts of crafts. Pottery, weaving, fashion design, painting etc. If there is no specification under Artistry for your god, you can take either a Performance OR a Material specialization. (For blacksmithing and mechanical stuff, you will actually take the Forge Purview).

IF you want to have the Artistry purview for two different things (say singing and guitar) you must take the Artistry purview twice, once for each specialization.
