Lore
Reve Songe
The world where all fairy tales come from has been destroyed. Through desperation and magic, the few survivors have escaped to a place where they might live new lives. Now split between two worlds, two lives to lead, some believe they are now safe. But there is always danger. If not from the enigmatic Silence that seeks to destroy all of them, then by the other Heroes and Villains that are now their neighbors.
Welcome to Reve Songe, where “Life is But a Dream.”
OOC Explanation
Welcome to Reve Songe, a world split in two. All characters (save the occasional NPC) were born in a realm called Tales, now destroyed by an entity whose goal is the complete eradication of all traces of Tales.
Characters
All players are variations of fairy tale characters. Some may have come from relatively straightforward stories, but most come from a tale that is a bit different than the traditional one. For instance, a story where Red Riding Hood is a rogue werewolf and the Big Bad Wolf is simply trying to bring her in so the leader of his pack can punish her for wrong doings is one option. Or maybe Red Riding Hood is simply a young man rather than a young woman. This allows for multiples of the same sort of character, with no worries about your character role being “taken” by someone else.
This character’s attention is split between two realms. They may be very similar in appearance in both worlds (for instance, if your character is Snow White, she may also have black hair, ruby lips, etc. in the modern world as well) or they may be drastically different. Most do not remember their fairy tale life in the modern world, allowing them to be completely different people. Then again, some always act as their true self might. Either way, some may wish to make two different avatars, but everyone will wish to have two wardrobes: fantasy and modern.
In the modern world, nearly all are fully human, as to show knowledge of your fairy tale life through action and words is to invite the Agency of Silence to come and zap away your memory, perhaps even destroy you. Some might be regular animals, with admin approval. (talk with someone before applying)
In the Kingdom of Nod, one might be something stranger and less human, but will still have to make their character “realistic” rather than something more cartoony.
It should also be noted that, despite the fact they are relatively new inhabitants to the Modern World, nearly all have memories of a full life there, complete with education, relationships, hopes and dreams. It is very real to them, and those lives are just as important to them as their lives in Nod.
Places and Play
The setting of the RP itself is in two places: Reve Songe, which is a world presented as strange but modern, and The Kingdom of Nod, a place that is fantasy themed, cobbled together from the remnants of the Realm of Tales. RP time will be split between the two builds, switching every two weeks or so. (This is subject to change.) Both are very strange places that do not completely adhere to the rules of reality.
RPwise, you will be welcome to RP in either area whenever you please, but one area will be encouraged over the other every two weeks. During those times, events (ST ran or Player hosted) will be in only one of the two areas. If you choose to be in the opposite world (the modern world instead of the Kingdom of Nod), your character will have to remain there until it switches back to that land. (Then you can stay until the next swap, or choose to remain opposite.) You will be likely to get less RP if you choose to stay opposite of the rest of the players.
If you need an RP break, you can always say that you were asleep, perhaps stuck between worlds during the change over.
Archetypes/Alignments:
When going through character creation, you will be asked to choose a role: Hero, Villain, or Neutral. These give you bonuses for certain actions, but also determine what sorts of magic you can use, which factions you can join and how you plan on generally playing your character.
Choose carefully, but don’t fret over it too much. Character Alignments can end up changing due to your behaviors IC.
Another Note:
For those who have played in our former sim, Gods & Monsters, Elysium, this world is part of that same setting, primarily separated. However, Demigods are not allowed, only characters from Fairy Tales, Folk Stories etc.
