Crimson Regime FAQ
1) I play a vampire, can I be a multi-millionaire?
- No. In the wake of World War Three, Emperor Lysander has redistributed wealth for the good of the supernatural community. Everyone, including vampires, receive a government stipend each month. Granted the stipend afforded to Vampires tends to be far more generous than what others receive. Everyone is expected to work to assure the health and prosperity of the new world order.
2) I want to play an unregistered human in the wasteland, can I get my hands on weapons?
-No, there are no Unregistered humans, or Wasteland in Crimson Regime - Pacific Rim.
3) I don't like my group leader! Can I kill them and take over?
- No /and/ Yes. Group leaders are chosen by the Admins and have specific requirements they must fulfill. Should the leader of your group decide to retire, however, you are more than welcome to discuss killing their character on the way out. Be aware, however, that the leadership roles are ICLY appointed by the Emperor. Just because you kill your superior does not mean that you will get their position. Under most circumstances such a thing will be considered treason and treated accordingly. Engaging in a coup, or attempting to kill another character, automatically sets your own character Killable, as well.
4) I don't want to be part of my group. Can I be Solo or start my own group?
- No. OOC Crimson Regime - Pacific Rim is a cooperative writing Sim, characters are expected to function in the setting provided. IC, The Empire is all about control, this includes the Supernatural groups and their numbers. Given this is a central part of our Theme at Crimson Regime, we do not allow rogues, rogue groups, and the like. Everyone is given a two week grace period upon approval to contact and become part of their group.
5) Are there criminals/crime on Crimson Regime?
- Yes, there are. Naturally, given the presence of ISF, crime in the city is more difficult and comes with considerable risk. Bribes, however, do happen and it is not impossible to convince ISF officers to look the other way. The one caveat with this is killing other players. Once you engage in PVP of this nature, your own character is automatically set PVP, as well. Given the fact that death ends RP, we encourage players to find another route.
6) May I Non-Consent out of RP that makes me uncomfortable?
- Yes. And No. No one can force you to play out any scene that makes you uncomfortable. However, actions have consequences and consequences cannot be Non-consented out of. Such scenes can be FTB (Fade to Black), however, ICLY they will have happened and will impact your future RP. If dark themes and the threat of physical, mental, and/or emotional violence offend you, this may not be the game for you.
7) I have an issue with another player, what can I do?
- That depends on the issue. If you are being harassed ICly by another, try to work it out OOC with them, be nice. If it is an OOC issue, then proof will be needed, such as screenshots of conversations or such. These can not be notecards or copy/paste. You will then go to an Admin first and they will help you. DO NOT contact a sim owner first. If a sim owner is required to handle a situation then the Admin will contact them on your behalf. We have a ticket system in discord for this purpose.
8) I am a part of the LGBTQ+ community IC and OOC (Or one or the other) can I expect to be discriminated against?
- Absolutely not. Not IC. Not OOC. Given the way that most monsters reproduce they could care less what your preference is or how you choose to identify or represent. Even Shifters, who reproduce via childbirth, do not discriminate in such a fashion. While there are a LOT of dark themes and while there is a pointed measure of OPPRESSION in the theme, it is societal and racial in regards to Humans VS Monsters. If you are experiencing discrimination or abuse of this nature report it to the Admins /immediately/.
9) I am a shifter being pursued by a vampire to become their animal servant. Do I have to comply?
- Yes and No. Technically speaking we STRONGLY discourage players to engage in such bonds without a lot of thought and consideration. It is a very final act and involves a great deal of intimacy (Intimacy does not equal sex) on the part of all of those involved. While it is technically possible for your character to be forced into such a bond, OOCly such an act will not be allowed. ALL parties must consent OOC to such a bond. This does not, however, mean that you can non-consent out of being called to serve in a non-permanent fashion. Being subject to the call of a vampire is one of the Shifters greatest weaknesses and cannot be avoided. ICLY there is an Imperial Law regarding Summoning a Shifter, the law will be upheld.
10) I am playing a Human/Shifter/Mer can I get pregnant?
- Technically, Yes, yes you can. HOWEVER, there are NO CHILD AVATARS ALLOWED ON SIM. NO EXCEPTIONS. Nor is it acceptable to RP having an NPC child with you at any time. Any predatory or inappropriate roleplay concerning children will earn an Immediate Ban. For IC Purposes, assume that ALL children are shipped outside the city to a Government approved/ran boarding school. IC, every citizen of the Regime is chipped. These chips act as a form of birth control.
11) With Shifters, are they separate groups that banded together? Will there be issues of one type not being welcome by the others?
- No. Shifters in this lore are one people. Breed doesn't matter. A Bear Shifter could very well have a fox child, or a wolf, or a cougar. They are ONE people, despite the animal they transform into.
12) Does Crimson Regime use dice, or is it optional?
Crimson Regime provides a dice roller on the discord for those who wish to use it. Dice are an optional tool used to resolve issues between players when they cannot agree on an outcome. Generally speaking, we expect everyone in a cooperative, creative writing endeavor to work together.
13) What is the Social/Political Hierarchy of the Empire?
- In order of precedence, Vampire, Mer, Shifter, Witch, Human. While the Empire protects, and goes out of its way to assure the comfort of, all supernaturals, there is no pretense about equality made. The Empire is a dictatorial regime created and controlled by Vampires. Inequality, oppression and government surveillance is the theme of the entire world. Big Brother /is/ watching and he has fangs. (For the Sci-Fi nerds out there, consider how the Empire treats non-human aliens in Star Wars.)
14) How does race detection work?
- There is no automatic way to know what someone's race is, unless they have told you, or they are a very public figure like the Governor, or other public leader. Some of the race-only leads may be known by name, but not face, so knowing for example a shifter lead is a shifter before being introduced is unlikely.
Scent - While those with supernatural scent might be able to detect varied race specific scents, this is by no means an automatic way to tell. A vampire who has recently fed might have a hint of blood, but so could a shifter or Mer who has just eaten or even a human who had a rare steak. A Mer may have a hint of the ocean, but so could a shifter or vampire who has recently been near the ocean. So while you may be able to think someone is a specific race by scent you can not know for sure.
Hearing - You can not assume a vampire is one by hearing if you have keen hearing. Vampires can have a heartbeat, although they may choose not to. However, in the cacophony of sound that is the city it would be hard to detect if they do or do not unless you put your head against their chest...which no one should be doing unless invited to do so.
Touch - You cannot shake someone's hand and know what they are. While shifters do run a bit hotter than humans it is nothing astounding or unnatural. Vampires are also not freezing to the touch and may even feel warm if they want or have recently fed, however, even a cooler vamp will still only feel like a human who has sat in an AC cooled room for a period. Mer are not slimy or scaly.
Technology - Registration Chips, Government and ISF scanners.
15) Right of Bond: If someone were offended by a bonded witch, would the bonded vampire be able to take the punishment if this is dealt by someone with more power.
- Yes. However, doing that would make the vampire look very weak and likely cause them to lose political/social standing. Within a society such as the Regime such a thing is highly frowned upon. Ultimately, the actions of the servant reflect upon the Master. Vampires who cannot keep their servants in line stand the chance of having them taken away. Vampires should be aware of the fact that they can, and likely will be, punished for the lack of discipline in their servants, as well.
Be aware vampires will be expected to correct such behavior in the presence of the offended party. It is not REQUIRED, but it is certainly EXPECTED and can be legally demanded by the offended party.
16) If a witch/bonded is punished without the knowledge of their vampire, does that vampire have the right to complain?
-
Yes. However, the ISF has the power to deal with an offender as they, with the Governor's approval, see fit.
-
The vampire DOES have the right to complain if their property is touched by another.
HOWEVER
If that vampire is of higher rank, it should not be expected that much will happen. The decision, in that case, will be up to the Magisters, and/or Governor
IF the BONDED has broken a law, however, the ISF/City Officials/Consulars/Lysander have the right to interrogate without notifying the owner. BECAUSE, the owner may very well be complicit in the bonded's crime and try to cover it up.
If the BONDED is being ICLY disruptive and/or violent immediate action can be taken by ISF.
